There are plenty of period correct styles available for sale in the UK and USA (Lift up and push button release). I doubt if they would be able to pass an inspection as they need the AS label. You may just have to use the modern belts sold by mini shops.

Would this mean the inertia reel ones from minispares U.K. Would also have issues getting through rego, given they wouldn't specifically meet an AS?

If the car is pre a certain year, do the AS requirements even apply in the same way?

As far as i am aware you either run with no belts on an early car that had none fitted or you need to fit belts that are approved AS.

Thanks makes sense. Couldn't find anything on search then realised I needed to type seat belts as two words rather than one and a whole stream of informative threads came up

The grey 2 inch belts fitted as standard to the 1965 & 1966 Cooper S had the black plastic lift up buckle as pictured earlier in this thread. The brand was "Cooldrive", & having them fitted to my car to this day, I can testify they are not particularly good, as the buckles sometimes self open!
The webbing can still be found on e bay occasionally, but not the hardware, so the best bet is to get hold of a set from a Morris 1100 wreck.
Not sure what was fitted to the Deluxe, but a couple of other Adelaidians may be able to help, - Phil & Barry?
