Hi guys, I was hoping that someone could help me out with a few wiring questions.
1) can someone please explain the fuel sender wiring to me? I have a clubman wiring loom but do not seem to have a wire for the fuel sender. What colour should it be and is it only one plug (there only seems to be one plug on the fuel tank)? Where does this wire connect to in the dash cluster?

2) can someone explain the same for the reversing light? I have a cable on the gearshifter (which I assume is a ground wire?) but no wire that seems to match on the wiring loom.

Sorry for all the questions. I have lost my wiring sheet and am really hoping to get these few problems fixed asap.

Thanks in advance, Richard

I only have pre 71 minis but some things are standard.
1. The fuel tank sender power is Green/Black trace. It goes from the boot along the LH roof rail to a printed circuit at the dash display. An early Clubman diagram I have says it goes into the printed circuit plug at Number 2 socket. It should also go into a body junction somewhere - mine is just above the windscreen wiper motor.
There should also be a Black earth lead from the tank sender unit going to earth usually under the bolt holding the tank strap to boot floor. This Black wire will possibly be lose and not taped into main loom.
2. The Reversing light is Green/brown trace or Light Green/brown trace. The switch on the gearstick should have 2 wires - 1 from fuse for power in and 1 for signal out to rear of car. The circuit goes to earth in the boot at the tank strap.

Fuel tank sender is Green/Black to a fixed end of internal wire coil with black earth off the connection that goes to the float arm - this changes the resistance as it moves

reverse - fuse to switch = green , switch to light = light green/brown , LH to RH lights Green/brown

The Ignition feed to the Reversing light switch comes from Ignition fuse to the windscreen washer pump and doubles up then carries on to feed the reverse light switch. The two reversing light switch wires are usually found at the front left side of car. From there they carry on along the bottom of the sub frame and on to the gear lever rods. Make sure you secure them correctly and safely all the way and keep them away from axles and exhaust pipes.
