Is there a special type of Spanner required to remove the bottom bolt fixing the carby to the manifold? I've had this off before so maybe it's just a lack of caffeine not allowing me to think straight.

Thanks peterb and goodie. I'll give a stubby Spanner a go. I was sure it was a 9/16 size though.

For one of the nuts in my setup...Take out speedo and undo it from the passenger seat :)

I'm sure this doesn't help answer your question and for that I apologise.

If its a 1 1/4" carb it is 9/16" AF that's required
1 1/2" Carb uses smaller stud so 1/2" AF

The original early Haynes manual recommends cutting the correct sized spanner (er, but not lengthways) in half for this job.

Try working on a Mk2 Jag and see how easy jobs are. Mini's are a soda.
The only easy job on a Mk2 is removing/replacing wheels (Knock off wires). Everything else is a PITA.
Yes, I was stupid to buy one.

Thanks everyone. I've had the carby off before but for the life of me can't remember how I did it. I'll buy a cheap Spanner and butcher and bend it if I have to.

It seems to be most English cars are like that.
