Hi All,

Just wondering if mini vans ever came out with a seat in the back? Or if someone has fabricated something up and fitted one?

I was thinking of getting a van but with two young kids a two seater would be no good.

Thanks!
Andrew

`Aaron' on here got a rear seat for a child fitted to his van. I think Littles in Blacktown may have done it?

There were conversion kits available that fitted a reasonable seat into a van. Instead of a van you really want a Traveller, Countryman or Clubman Estate, which came with a rear seat and opening side windows. Trouble is, they never built them here, so there are only a handful kicking round.

My first car was a 68 mini van bought it in 74 I was the 2nd owner the previous owner was Sutherland hospital , it was used as a laundry car , and it had a back seat fitted to it , I used it about half a dozen times. I think they were done by a place at Bankstown airport probably would not be legal now . They come up every now and again on ebay uk . I was going to do this to my second van but finished up buying a 64 countryman the kids loved it hunt around they are out there .

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'll start checking out for the countrymans (great name!), etc.

I'll have a chat with one of the local rego places as well about likelihood of registering a modified van.

Should probably just buy a 'normal' mini as they are awesome too but for some reason really like the van shape.

Just a thought. You could buy sedan and convert rear to van. Although I think vans had longer wheel base.
So that's my 2c worth..........I'll go back to the shed now.

Vans have a different floor to that used by the Traveller/Countryman...

I'm sure it could be done ..but its not simple. The first step would be to consult a specialist engineer to make sure you can get it registered before chopping any metal...

Any certified by RMS seatbelt fitting station in NSW could do it legally. There is Littles in Blacktown, and another place on Powers Rd seven hills. Opposite O'brien.
