Just wondering what people have done to clean and protect the gearbox casing, wok, etc

Looking for a natural finish.

Thanks

Wouldn't that give it a shiny lacquered look?

Well if you just leave it bare it will oxidize and look s/h, I would either clear coat it or spray with aluminium (not silver) paint.
When new they were engine colour.

Refinish it the way the BMC factory intended, with self peeling engine paint.

Why wouldn't hydroblasted Al stuff eventually oxidise anyway? Clean Al is reactive to O2 converting to Al2O3 quite rapidly, the oxide layer ("tarnish") forming the protective surface. Clean shiny Al will always oxidise...
