Bugger, you bent it! Poor Herman...

Wasn't a bad day I thought- 25 or so people turned up.
GR ran the 1330 motor up with the 8 port Elder head- at 10:1 C/R, with his `282' cam in, & 2x 45DCOE carbs it got 140HP @7000 RPM. Nice street motor.... 8)

We had a recond & ported 295 head for a lucky door prize- Chong the Lucky (68delux) won it!

Really excellent day, thanks Graham, Greig and Kevin for arranging.
Graham is obviously a man with a passion for Mini's and an engineer beyond question, I could have spent all week there! everywhere you looked was more cool stuff.
I liked Dean Canto's car, I think he would prefer it to be known as a ute with a clubby front! :D
Car was genuine pick up shell (brand new!) which they put the clubby front onto, gives room for the Elder and MPFI! Very smart! 8)
Gonna start saving for that crank and rods!! $7K anybody?

Great also to see a few new faces

What a Great Morning shame we could not all do for a Cruise after

What happened to Herman

Dr Mini says: this shows the dreaded Lynx `gooseneck' Weber manifold. For those who wonder what one is. No, a Redline 3005 is not one, in my book.

I edited my original post to say that pic 4 above shows the dreaded Lynx `gooseneck' Weber manifold. For those who wonder what one is. No, a Redline 3005 is not one, in my book.

many thanks to Graham for his hospitality!

Thanks to all who organised the morning. It's always good to surround yourself with people who share your passion! 8)

It was great catching up with friends and making new ones.

Heyas!

Thanks to everyone for a great day! Esp Graham Russel!!! How good was it today?! I got to meet Graham Russel himself, Ken Elder of elder 8 port heads, Greig Malaure of Mini Classic, and heaps of ausmini people as well as Dean Canto and his ute.

PLUS I walked away with a 12G295 ported head with unleaded valve seats and double valve springs!

As you can see from the first piccie, I am one happy guy! 8)

Well I might have to shelve my 1275 plans for Lillee for a little while and plant this hunk of fast metal on her

WHAT HAPPENED TO HERMAN!?!?! :(

Looks like all had a great day. Simon gave me a blow by blow and I was also keen to head out to makkas to raid his garage.

Well Whipped the head off the car and looks like a failed gasket - cream everywhere!! I am a little miffed too as I just changed the oil a week ago!.. Also found cylinder 3 exhaust spring failed in a very big way(came off in 3 pieces!!). So whipped the rocker gear off, removed the working parts, replaced with standard sintered rockers on the thick shaft and now waiting for the morning to get it all together(anyone want to buy a minispares 1.5:1 rocker assembly?? - only 1200km on them!). I think I will stick with the standard setup and get a longer duration cam.

Grahame - when I am in Sydney next I will drop in and say Gday and spin them with you over a cuppa - it is good to see that all had a great time and the motor pulled some good figures. I was coming with a bankroll too just in case there were any goodies to be had. Maybe I should have just driven there with the sick car and fixed it when I got there???

Anyways all - I am off to enjoy my long W/E...see y'all next time(still pissed and amazed!!)
