The 206 is rare. You may not find one.

The other thing with the 295 is that you have to have a conversation about compression with the machine shop. GR flat top pistons can solve the problem. To do it right and get the full potential requires parts to be matched during the engine build.

Hypatek make a flat top piston too. See Ebay. FYI, I'm getting a 295 from the US of A landed for under $500. Standard and has been crack tested.

I have built small bore motors with both Hypatec and Russell Engineering pistons.
Both are good.
But if building a 1098, the Russell engineering ones have thicker ring lands. Don't break as easily. They have 1 less compression ring.

Doc my flat top Hypatec pistons have two compression and one oil ring.

I'm building an 080, 998. Building it myself.

Well sorry TK, my bad.
I was thinking of Hypatec dished 1098 +.060 vs GR's flat + .060s.
The Hypatecs had broken ring lands so I fitted Graham's flat tops. ;)

Hi Ness-c7
I think I have about 6or 8 295 heads left,i would have to get them out and check them out.
One thing with the 295 heads the valve seat is very thin .040 tho or 1 mm with no metal to get a wider seat with the std valve, and with the unleaded fuel the valves really start to pull down into the head.
You are much better off fitting a larger inlet valve which gives you a much better valve seat, better flow better performance have a look at my website.
If you are interested in a head give me a call 0296302195.

Hi TK
You may like to know that I designed the 998 pistons for Precision but they changed the design a little, they dropped the ring package down from the top of the piston be cause there ring pack would not handle the heat.
They also made the piston about .250 tho longer more drag , heavier piston.
I also designed the 73mm and 73.5mm pistons that's why the 998 and 73 /73.5mm have oil holes drilled behind the oil ring not slots bad design.
There pistons are a cheaper piston than mine I don't have the buying power they have but they are a good piston.
My rings are a much better ring for both the small bore and 1257, but there rings do the job.
Graham Russell

Hey Graham, I wasn't questioning your pistons or rings. I was just found your offer funny. Sorry.

Hi Richard
I wasn't dealing with the piston company I was dealing with precision, at the time I started a class for minis called mini one thousand racing and we could not get 998 flat top pistons at the time.
That's when I approached precision to have them made, and they asked me what I had in mind so I did some drawings and faxed the to them, they then asked what other sizes would be a good selling piston that's when I gave them the 73/73.5 size.
All went well for a while till I got burnt buy them that's when I got my own pistons made and rings.
If you know any thing about rings you would see the difference in the quality of the rings.
As for the over priced gold plated Thailand rings my rings are $80 a set how much are yours the last set I bought from precision were around $100.

A lot of good things have come out of back yards right round the world.
If I still have the faxes I will send you a copy.
Graham Russell
