the borgward was great to see, I can't say I've ever seen (or noticed) one before, how many Borgwards are in the country?

No not restored, completely original 33000 mls. Unfortunately I scraped it on the weekend... Just a little rear quarter damage, nothing too serious or unfixable, just a pain. You had the mustard coloured S up the back yeh?

bummer about the scrape... that's my S you saw, it's very original too, just not as well looked after in it's life as your K

Yeh I took note of it though as being quite original, being one of only a handful of Aussie S's with the original dark grey/gunmetal ventilated steel wheels which i reckon look fantastic, and the only Aussie S ive ever seen with the original bus wheel. I knew that BMC/BL fitted them that way as standard but just had never seen evidence of it. I was in the market for an S when I bought the K and have seen all sorts but i like original cars the most, hence i hold yours in high regard!

skssgn,

There is around 100 Borgwards in Australia. Of which about 50 are the Coupe's like mine.

There are probably only around 20 on the road. There are a few that are regularly driven around Melbourne. There is also one that lives in Denilliquin in your area.

thanks :) the previous owner put them on in place of a set of contessas, and I probably wouldn't have bought it in that case - they are the wrong colour though, they should be silver birch like your wheels (so I believe)

yeah, I love that too - I'm working on a wheel in better condition than the one that's on it, but it'll definitely be keeping the standard one

I know of a guy who would hold your car in much higher regard than mine, my first 2 minis were K's, and I've got a soft spot for them - the only really uniquely Australian mini... that said, a very original '70 S is my dream car, so I'm stoked with this one, and I get to drive it every day! :D

HRS - I almost mistook it for a Volvo P1800 (shock!), my Dad glanced at it as I was checking it out and said 'oh, that's a Borgward' casual as anything... bastard knew all about it! nice car if I haven't said so already
