Here's a tip if you're after some cheap steel to knock up a frame:
- old bed frames (roadside collections)
- scrap metal yards
- the scrap bin at you friendly local engineering workshop
especially if you come armed with a cold carton (slab to those over East) on aFriday arvo :D

my dad was a ground engineer did his trade a either hawker or dehavilan cant remember now and he taught me to oxy weld we replaced a compleat rearend on a car that i owned also did a exhaust fitters coarse at tafe when it was time to do the oxy part i walked up to the oxy adjusted it to how i wanted it not the teacher and of i went he had a look at how i set the regs told me it was wrong i said have a look at my welds he did looked at me and walked away , after he come up to me and said were did you learn to oxy weld i said my dad and he said whats he know about it i said not much but here is his number give him a call and maybe he can explain it to you , next day he sez to me why did you not just say he was a engi i said well you would have thought i was being a smart arse ..... he said you are right
week later was offerd a job with a mate and left the course just b4 we started on mig :(
