What was the one that ran 15.2 running standard everything, is this what I can expect from the standard setup?

I thought Brads was standard too?

How much hp were you running when you ran your 13?

I cant wait to get the daihatsu engine in! Even though Im sure it wont be anywhere as good but at least it will fit fairly easily!

MiniVan do you have the engine sitting in the shed? It is bigger than it looks in the photos. Not trying to rain on your parade but if you see the engine in the flesh you know it may be a big ask, that's all. I don't think anyone is saying don't do it, just you may want to fully investigate before throwing your money around...

rain on my parade? pfft.. you cant rain on my parade

i know theres alot of talkers.. i'm not sure what i'm doing with my mini at the moment, all i know is that i'm building a new house and ive sold my current house and dont have much time for anything at the moment, (that said i have stripped 80% of the paint off my mini in the last couple of weekends)

i'm not sure if i will go down this path.. i am gunna do a big engine conversion. not sure if it will be with my mini though.. i'm also looking at a YJB cosworth turbo and a mkII escort RS2000

if i decide to eliviate my mini of its weezy 1100.. it will be with a 4EFTE.. (hence the amount of interest in your wikkid website)

my new house is ready in two - three weeks.. i have a 300zx coming over from Japan for myself to drive.. so once shes regoed.. all is well

i have never had the pleasure to see one of these in real life (except for that half assed try in a roundy over here in Perth.. although.. it was in....)

i would love to see a clubman with one in, parked next to a mini with its bonnet open just to make some estimates...

it can be done.. and if i decide to prove it.. i hope i dont have to eat my words.. the clubman aint that much bigger

The gold one that ran 15.2 has a standard motor, standard ct9 turbo, BIG front mount cooler and microtech ecu computer..... It made 130hp@wheels on the same dyno i use on 14psi.

When i ran the 13.9 at the drags i was also running 130hp@wheels, dynoed it the night before i ran, same as he did. I have a standard engine, standard ecu, standard intercooler and T25 turbo. I was running 8psi then.

Now i can run 12psi and have nearly 160hp@wheels, still standard everything excpet turbo. Hoping for a mid 13 next time out,, maybe low 13 with better tyres.

Matt i think if you keep the standard ecu and turbo you will get around 120hp@wheels on 14psi.

Awesome!!

So is the difference in times down to driver skill or is your turbo heaps better providing more torque for the same power or something??

I hope the cb70 can put down that much power, a 13 would be awesome in the mini! Thats all Im after!

If I can find a suitable front cut I plan on trying to fit a 4E-FTE in a roundnose. Well actually its a 71 model so I think its a clubman with a roundnose front. If it wont fit ill convert it back to a clubman as it needs fixing anyway (rusty). I nearly gave up on the idea but after seeing pictures of 92's I think it might just fit.

13secondmini what boost can you reliably put through the 4E-FTE? Have you had any problems now that you have been driving it for a while eg cracking of subframe?

Im not sure if it is driver skill as it was my first time on the strip ever in any car. Im sure he has raced before when it was a 1380cc a series..... Im sure he will get it into the low 14's next time out, as his turbo comes on way earlier then mine and his cooler will hold inlet temps very low. My turbo will make more power at lower boost levels but is alot laggier then a the ct9.

The 4efte on completely standard internalls can handle 20psi all day everyday as long as the fueling and intercooling is upto it.... Many 4efte's in australia are running over 230hp@wheels on standard engines with gt25 turbo's on 18-22psi with microtech computer.

Standard computer is getting to its limit at anything over 180hp@wheels
Anything over 180hp@wheels will need an upgraded clutch and ecu.

Dean (baracade) has a 4efte with custom pistons and rods and has made 350hp@wheels on 21psi.

only problem i have had with mine in 12 000kms is a small crack on the frame where it bolts to the body... no big deal,, 30 minutes and all is strengthened up and fixed.

Thought there would have been heaps of crap go wrong being the first to do something like this but been very happy with how it is going,, now just to find some more traction :D

Yeah you must be happy, you sure have racked up the kays quick. When does boost come on in your car? Is it mainly a peaky engine or does it have reasonable power down low? What do you have planned to get more traction?

when driving hard i do not notice any lag at all.... 1st gear pulls hard, gets full boost around 4000rpm,, hit 2nd gear and your on full boost straight away same as 3rd and 4th...

If i take of slowly in 1st and change to 2nd, then plant it, it will build boost around 2000rpm and full boost at 4000rpm and then it hit the redline of 7500 in around 1 second :D

Basically i love how it boosts... If you wanna race then its full on throttle no lag, if you wanna overtake, put your foot down and by 3000rpm your taking off in any gear... Another plus to a bigger turbo is not being on boost while on the freeway,, sits on 3500-3800rpm at 110kph and just of boost, great fuel economy and no strain on the turbo.

Most the time im driving around in 5th gear,,, so much torque that it will pull up any hill easy, and once on the freeway if i plant it at 120kph in 5th the mini accelerats faster then my v6 magna does in 1st gear
