gday all.
Woke up yesturday morning determined to wash my babe as i havent done for 2 weeks now. After she was clean a took her for a fang around my area witch allways puts a smile on me face...handles heaps better with my new yokie tyers ive got...a539"s...good tyers if anyone cares.
got home and noticed something sticking out from under my car on the drivers side on the outer sill.
now im a sticky beak so i picked at it and ..ohhhh my god....you should seen the rust that was hiding under the sill....its quite bad....made me nearly cry....
previous owner had hidden it under what looks like silver foil and fiber glass

whole outer sill is nackered....door step once i got picking away is stuffed as well and the rear iner sill is gone too.good news is that the front floors are ok as ive allready done these...thank god.
I was hoping i wouldnt have to go threw this again as i went threw this with my last mini.
just got a quote to get it fixed witch will include a new outer sill,$80 or so....and link will be sourcing the other panels for me off recks witch arnt rusted witch will included...
a door step...and most likely rear left inner sill section as well.
no cost on these yet as but i know they wont be much as they are off recks...

cost of repairs fron a panel shop who did my front floors is $600 to fit the new panels..door step, iner sill and outer sill...plus $400 to paint the door step...

will most likely do the painting myself as im able to do this but is $600 a good quote for this kind of repair????

not sure as its been a while since ive had to do this???

plus $400 seems a tad $$$$ for just some red paint....

any feed back would be great....

It realy bugs me when people dont do rust repair correectly...i know i would be ashamed of myself if i sold my car with hidden rust.its an awfull thing to do...and even worse when a mini is involved...

That really sucks. If you can go without it a while maybe you might want to consider a bare metal respray ? It sounds like it's going to cost you a few dollars already and if the previous owner has covered the rust effected area's he may have done so elsewhere. Look's like a good car and a classic, look after it. 8)

Don't think about it, just fork out for the lot.
You'll be happy when it's done. Just think of that.
The phrase "You get what you pay for" comes to mind.
If it seems expensive but they do good work, just do it.
That's what I'd do.

have had the car looked over better now and pasanger side looks ok,sill ok door step ok ect theres a tiny bit of rust in the roof gutter but this is getting done next month when i take the car off the road also removing a tad more around the rear windows as well.

theres also a bit...well a lot in the boot floor and will do this later too plus my doors need attention too as i need new skins put on...cant get whole thing done as im getting marrid next year in march so need to save for this too.....
all will turn out for the best im sure.

its only money after all isent it...you have to spend in on something
