Well the engine is back in the bay, but i have one small problem with it going back in. I have put 2 brand new mounts on. And being brand new they are somewhat thicker than a pre used one.... so when trying to get it down in the wedge of the subframe it is pretty tight. Anyone got any tips how to get the bugger in. radiator side is in. just need to somehow get the other side to go down. have stood on the enginein the bay and jumped up and down. Anything else i can try?

Cheers

Aaron

If you put the rubber in hot water it should soften up a bit, then use grease if you have to.

Marcello and I had the same problem with Mo.
turns out the rad cap fell right in between (found out afterwards when looking for the darn thing) so gave us the biggest bitch of a time
one got a long bar and pry-ed it down while the other put the bolts in.

the bar goes through the front of the grill area, and somehow hooks and levers the engine down with the subframe, if youre not worried about the engine paint being scratched

Yeah,
We've all had that problem. Jumping up and down is probably no good, you need a fat bastard friend to stand on it while you try to get the bolts in (or vice versa).
Are you using the mounts with the captive nuts or normal? if the former, be careful. It is easy to break them (they are only crimped in) then they spin and you can't do them up. They seem easy to bend and cross thread too.

I used a crowbar and a piece of 3x2 hardwood.
Those captive nut aftermarket ones are worst- they seem thicker.

all good now, i am a fat guy so a good 110kgs was enough, i just had to stop the suspension from moving with a jack. a bit of screwdriver prying and taking out the lower radiator to to engine bol and we had enough leverage. there in now. thats enough for today. tomorrow will see a further 6 bolts oh yeah and 8 more for the drive shafts. it's looking good for the sylvania breakfast on sunday.... hopefully. the van will be revived.

Cheers

Aaron
