 Post subject: Tappet cover leaks

On the tappet covers is a rubber grommet that the securing bolt goes through. The 'full' gasket set for my motor never had these, so I used the old ones...... :cry: what a mistake that was!

Now both are leaking and I have to pull my twin HS2's and LCB to fix them :x

Can you buy these grommets? Karcraft maybe?

yes. They are a square section inside a little cap.

oooh...I better clarify that a bit more.

Not the rocker cover, but the side covers...you know....is that what are are talking about Kev?

Tappet chest covers, i have two cork ones with your name on them if you want them. Came with the kit i bought, but as i have no tappet chest covers there all yours.

very nice of you mate 8) but it's the bolt grommet / seal I need, not the cover gasket.

if i remember correctly bolt goes into rubber grommet goes into metal cup
which holds the tappet covers in.
doth thou posses thy metalleth grail?

Early type covers (850, Deluxe etc) used a fibre washer. Was not as good as the grommet ring thingy. Bolts were longer too.

i thought mine only had an old crusty dried up rubber grommet :?

That's probably why they piss oil out :x

Karcraft stock them?
