Lot 14: Fiat 1100 Van. What a pearler! Beautiful vehicle in great condition. Each to their own, but I love old vans.

We'll probably pop up and view on the Sunday, then go to the auction.

Hey there everyone..

The A9X is fantastic - it has all history and is australias most raced A9X even if it didnt win anything. Apparently it was used a street car after its initial racing career by different owners before someone got hold of it and returned it to its former glory. Anyway looks great in the flesh.

The mini is a K, its had an external respray and all int. trim looks nice, external trim a bit poor in places. It has contessa wheels, Mountney steering wheel, non original carpets and carpet on the rear parcel shelf as well as a radio but otherwise its fairly standard. It had a link sticker on it so i dont know if it's had a rebuild but it may have. Anyway, presents well.

Speaking of oddball fiats there is a fiat 500D wagon, which although Shannons have neglected to call it such is known as a Giardineira or some such, meaning 'Garden Box' literal translation. Needs complete resto but man itd be fun when its finished.

As Im at Moorabbin Airport a fair bit I get to drop in to Shannons quite regularly to have a bit of a peek.

My pick? the BMW 3.0 CSL - its a genuine 72 CSL as well which means lightweight panels and an enviable racing heritage. Needs minor detail work inside but at a range of 22K-28K its a fast appreciating classic, and real CSLs are rare.

Poeee wtf are u bothering coming up twice in as many days man. It doesnt look like a great auction lots of jags and stuff. Oh well, Ill see you there probably.

68Delux: IT would be if you want to do the work on it it needs!! You could see straight through the bonnet it was that rusty :D

Poeee: Because it presents well I think there are some toffs that'll probably pay good money for it. I think Ill prob end up selling my car on Shannons auction because the toffs go there :) I mean its not historically correct (Im not gonna get anal) but someone will pay good money im sure.

But isnt adeee cashed up anyway so you'll be sweet. Exact same colour combo as ur van, white with dark red inside. Now thats a little bit toooooo boyfriend/girlfriend.

makes me sick actually  :?

My father went to a shannons auction a few years ago and there was an extreme low milage MiniMatic that was owned by a little old lady and was in perfect condition. Went for peanuts.

Whether the climate has changed since then (it probably has), then maybe a run of the mill non-cooper wont attract big bidders. But... I think that i'm kidding myself, but who knows!

there is a lot of interest at their auctions now - a black deluxe, i think, pretty standard, sold about five auctions ago for $9000 plus, and a very nice cooper at around the same time went for more than $22k.
I had a brief look a few weeks ago and there was a south african mini - i think there was a post here, but it now seems not to be on their auction website. :?
Remember you also have to pay a fee on top of the hammer price - $500 i think on a car, but not sure.
Last time there were two coopers there - one with no reserve, but I don't know what they went for. They originally advertised one as a 1071, but a few people advised them it was not all as it seemed...they don't always have the correct desciptions on the cars.
