Been on the go since 6 this morning heading up to Perth to look at another dud Mini, It's now 6pm, I have to go to work in 30 min and I'm absolutely buggered and more than just a little frustrated. It's a 500 kay round trip to the city and I've made it 3 times now for no result.

Why is it so hard to find a car? I have no great preference for roundie or clubby, don't care what engine or if it's running I just want a fairly straight shell.

Aaaahh well, I'll go and winge at someone from work now

That's normal when looking for a car that is 30 odd years old!

Hey Ben, I don't mind checking them out for you & maybe sending you a couple of pics & an opinion if you want.
So long as it's not too far from my neck of the woods :)
Then you can decide if it's worth the trip...

I have the aptitude test for what I hope will be my apprenticeship at 8 tomorrow, just having a beer trying to relax so I can get some sleep. 4 cans of red bull waiting in the fridge in case I need them in the mornin' :?

Ben, did you know there was a Clubman for sale in Beach Road? He wants/wanted $6500 for it though, didnt look anything special. Green 1275, flares. didnt get a great look at it.

I saw it, out of my price range though. I can only really afford a good shell. I have access to a pair of 1098's and three gearboxes so I really need a project car. I want to build the engine and gearbox properly and paint it my own choice of colour anyway.
Besides I thought 6.5k looked a little rich for a clubbie, on the other hand it did look pretty straight.

yeah, it looked straight but nothing special at all, I thought it was too much too.

Did you know that the caravan (next to the Minis) out at the graveyard is FULL of engines and gearboxes? If the gates open the caravan is also open.... have a look

I did not know that at all, of the two engines i can get, one is only 10 000k from good rebuild so I thought that would be a good run around engine while I get the other one built with flowed head, cam, ecked block etc. A 1275 would be much better though 8) if one turned up

Ben, did you see the red clubby for sale on the corner of a house between Spencer and Blair Sts, opposite Spencer Motors spare parts division?
I saw it last week, was Red, very tidy, looked very straight and clean with mags too if I recall correctly. Nice Mini. I didnt see a price but it looked to be in excellent condition... ;)

Yup, wants 3.5k for it, not as good as it looks when you get close has some rust coming through, doesn't know what engine it has but a 'mate' told him he would get more than that in Perth. Without a close look I reckon it's worth $1500 - $2000 if the only rust is what you can see ( at least one door is completely rotten so I strongly suspect rotten sills)
Good interior though and looks tops until you look closely.
Why do people think driving 200kms north would make a car more valuable?

Thanks for the heads up though! 8)

PS I saw you driving on Saturday, didn't get a chance to see the car though, looks good what I did see! :)
