The car's together ready to go. Let's take him for a spin 'round the block. Everythings going great, until halfway round. Splutter splutter .. .nneeeooowwwnnnn.Stop.

Right.

No petrol.

So I push it back round the block to the workshop. (I nice lady offers help by saying "You've picked the right car for it"

Take another mini to the blood bank (Caltex) and fill up the fuel can i had in the back (handy). Right-o then..

Filler her up. (I reattached the seatbelts and put the rego sticker up this time  as I was taking it to fill him up properly. We put a new, freshly charged battery in to replace the borrowed one and off i go.

Coming round a bend in the backstreets, i hear clunk bang ting bong.

Great. There goes a hubcap.

Stop, pick it up, chuck it in the car an off we go.

Petrol goes in, nice and cheap. :D

Key goes in, Starter button goes down....aaaaaannnnddd

nothing...

he's flat as a tack.

While I'm waiting for the cavalry to bring the other battery, I attempt push it out of the way of the other patrons at the servo when someone says "You want a push?"..

great... he gives it a nudge and i'm off... hurrah

until 15 seconds later...nneeeooowwwnnnn.Stop.Again,

I guess i'll just wait for them, then.

While i'm waiting, another kind passer by offers assistance by driving past and shouting "YOU FAT nasty person!" Image

Right-o. The old battery goes in and everything goes well.

Until i realise that i'm now half an hour late for a "do" that i'm going to with the missus .

So I go to bed that night thinking "All first days are going to be rough. It'll be fine for the drive to mallala tomorrow.

And it WAS!

well... except for this..

Image

anyone want to guess if i had my jack with me?

Well that's my first day of mini ownership...

I don't know why i still like the damn car....i shouldn't... but i do...

even if i did have to hold the gear stick in 3rd with my knee if i wanted to give some up the hill :)

even if it has single leading shoes (of which one is siezed)

even if the drivers window slides open everytime you brake

damn things..

And there i was thinking that the gasket was supposed to keep the oil inside the motor... Silly me. You'll soon learn of this rather magical thing called "Permatex" Oh, and a little care and attention to detail. Works most of the time.

My crystal ball tells me that your brake cylinders are seizing up in the car park, and your throw out bearing will soon seize.
