Steve Cade's deluxe (the blue one called "Kiffa") belonged to his son. It was sold about three years ago and I have never seen it. Had paint run type effect on the inside of the doors upholstered in. Am I thinking of the right car?

Yeah, That's the car.
I'll put the rest of the pics of featured cars up tonight.
I don't have any of the other Mini Magic mags, but if anyone does and
wants so scan and upload them, I'm sure a few people would be interested for a look.

I remember seeing "Kiffa" at Mt Cooper a few years back. Had a nice interior and a car bra on the front which he had for sale.

Magazine cars dont look as good in person tho.

So far all mentioned are correct, as far as I know.

1/2 Brick was last seen in Geelong and was painted black. (Looked better in red, IMHO)

Gary McGrath is selling much of his collection to support son Matt's racing. Matt (who's Group N Mini we featured in Issue 4) has bought a Falcon to go that next step towards outright wins in the Biante Series. The Mini is for sale, and Bathurst next week is likely to be Matt's last run in the car. The Don Holland lightweight is for sale, so too the Wolseley Hornett. The 850 Sports replica has already been sold. Not sure about the others.

Tony Yaeger's Animal is certainly the car mentioned in the above link.

Craig Williams did damage his Speedwell Sprint quite substantially in Targa a few years ago, but it was completely rebuilt and Craig still has the car, as well as his Cooper S.

The 4WD Moke is the genuine factory pre-production prototype and was sold to a dealer in Perth. It was then sold to a transmission specialist who was in the process of completely restoring it about 2 years ago when I last saw it. I will be checking up on it in the near future (Issue 6 of The Mini Experience will be a bumper Moke issue to celebrate 40 years of the Moke in Australia - is every Moke owner going to Shepparton next Easter for the National Moke Muster?)

Ron Williams still has the 1071 and white 1275 Cooper S. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the red one is a Mk 3, even though it has a Mk2 badge on the boot, and Ron still has that one as well.

Andrew Bergan's Black Magic is now owned by young Mike Montgomery in Sydney (see the Readers Cars section of Issue 4 of TME)

Bill Brooks painted the roof of his Mini and the wheel arch flares silver. He has since sold the car, I believe, and he and his brother George have apparently got out of Minis altogether.

I haven't seen or heard anything of Russell's Ecurie De Dez for a couple of years, so don't know about that one.

Steve and Chris "Kiffa" Cade have both sold their De Luxe Minis, but a couple of years ago Steve had built a very nice van. Haven't seen it for a couple of years, but I think he still has it.

Again, haven't seen or heard from Terry Smithers for a couple of years, so don't know if he still has his S.

Now, Issue 5 of Mini Magic didn't get a mention (do you only have four issues?) I don't know about Lothar Sildwel's van.
I believe Catriona Rowntree still has her Mini S, and she also has a Cooper S now.
Paul Baker still has his rally Works replica, but it now has a full-house 1275cc engine and it is for sale.
The green bathtub - don't know and don't really care - it is a bit of a half-job IMHO. (Ian Anelzark's yellow roadster is a much better car and has been seen on display and on a number of MOCQ runs recently.)
Roger Whitty has sold his Riley Elf to John Fitzmaurice in Melbourne.
Steve O'Malley still has Ribena, but it is in a sad state.
Can't help with the Mr Been Mini.
As far as I know Danny Fitgerald still has his Mk1 ex-police Cooper S.
Paul Eaves still has Missy the Moke, which doesn't get used much these days, but I hope Paul will have this amazing Moke at the Muster.

That's about all I can help with at the moment. We will have more info on at least a couple of these cars in upcoming issues of The Mini Experience (shameless blatent plug #3)

Cheers, Watto.

I can confirm the half-brick is still in Geelong. I've driven it and it is a laugh a minute. The wacky bug catcher is still on it, but the engine is a bit tired now. It was sprayed black by a previous owner after a sideways trip through a barbed wire fence.

I only have issues 3 and 4.
So I haven't seen any of the other cars.
Who has the other issues? Anyone?

Mini Magic was published by Express Publications in Silverwater Rd., Silverwater (Sydney). They are the same people who do Hot Fours. Only 5 issues were produced (we've nearly caught up!) about six or seven years ago.
Contact is 02 9748 0034
They MAY still have back issues of Mini Magic available, as they ocassionally put them back on the stands.

Cheers, Watto.

I have all the issues, but I won't part with them.
:)

I think the VMCI library has some too?

If so, it was sold about 3 years ago to a collector in Perth.
Wish I knew where, but I will let you know if I find it

I now know where the 4wd Moke is.
If you are serious about buying the Moke, then contact me.

:D Ahh...
I knew as soon as I wrote that about the green bathtub that I would cop some flack, but then beauty, as they say, is in the eye of the beholder.
You're quite right, Makka, I can't comment on the quality of the build as I've not seen the car in the flesh (metal). However, from a purely aesthetic point of view, the car looked a long way from finished.
EG: black-painted standard LS wheels (or are they S wheels?) - Urgh!
The flat tray and cut-off look of the driver's compartment just don't look finished.
Think how much better this car would look with a decent set of wheels, wide flares, a sports aero screen and a bit of rounding off of the edges.
The Frenched-in taillights look great and the seats are terrific, but the number plate attached to the plain black grille with zip-ties - Peleese!
Under the bonnet doesn't look too much to write home about either.
All that said, I certainly couldn't do half the job this bloke has done and I give him credit for doing something a bit different, but it could have been done a lot better. My main comment was that Ian Anelzark did a better job of it. I've not posted a pic B4, so if someone can tell me how, I'll stick up a pic of Ian's car.
Anyway, each to their own.
Ah well, if nothing else this shows people at least read these posts.
Cheers, Watto.
