cylinder walls are too thin. That's why nobody makes 1400 pistons any more- they were even worse!!

Forgive my ignorance but how do you get 1360?

1330 is + 060 and 1380 is +115 but as far as I know there aint any +080 o/s pistons. So do you stroke an 1100S crank, use +060 pistons and swap in a set of Cooper S rods?

1360cc is 73.0mm bore, with standard stroke. About .095" overbored from stock.

1380cc is 73.5mm.

So, if you bore it to 1360 first, when worn you still have one rebore left before block is junk, or a candidate for 4 sleeves...

BTW Oz.... GR can sleeve a 1380 back to standard sizes, but it costs about $450 to do it (+ piston set).

Thanks Kev for enlightening me on this. It's been a while since I last dabbled in Mini science. Come to think of it Laurie Stewat's Broadspeed - once touted as the fastest Mini in Oz - was 1360 capacity.

Does this mean it doesn't need offset boring in the same way as has to be done with a 1380?

Does GRE stock 73mm hypatechs?

Yes you can bore straight to 1360, or 1380.
Offset boring was really only needed so you could go out to 1400. Nobody does 74.0mm now unless they have a private stash of pistons..

Yes Russell Engineering does stock 73.0mm Hypatecs, with Hastings rings- he has some now I think.

Re sleave $450.00 plus pistons sounds good. But not now taht I have put the new pistons in to keep it 1380. Problem is if it was just a stcok 1275 bored to 1380 it wuldnt worry me and I would rev the nuts out of it. M plan is to keep my eyes open for a cooper S block at the right price and build up a new 1310 and that gives me heaps of room for expansion.
