what are the reasons for this???

to raise compression??
to make sure the face is flat??

if i did this, wouldnt my pistons rise slightly above the blocks surface..
well thats how it looks for mine..

is that ok if i was going to use a 12G295?
1100 block and pistons.

Sometimes it is to true the block.
usually always.
For C/R raising, the head is usually shaved to piss, flat tops, etc.

It's used to get them flat.

Usually the case with Mini engines is that after a while and some blown head gaskets, between the cylinders erodes a little, causing it to blow head gaskets more often. This has happened to Rodney, even after a head reco.

When rebuilding an engine, it is stupid not to get it shaved flat. If it wasn't done and causes a problem, then the engine needs full pulling down.

You usually don't take enough off the block for the pistons to poke above.

Takes a little more work to clamp block up before machining. I usually charge $50 for Mini blocks... :wink:

Motor builders like to deck the block to make sure that the head is square to the cylinders as well. Usually done when you open up the bore.

just make sure you ask them not to machine the tab where the engine no. is...

i had my new engine all built up and put it, got the car home and when i went for mod plate for the seats the guy asks where my engine no. was :roll:

i wont tell you how i got by that one... :wink:

Yeah I NEVER take that pad off. But most shops don't give a stuff..."deck it sir? No problem..." :lol:
