No Bob, , they don't shed into little bits, they just crack and fall off like in pic.
Look at your drain plug- I bet there's no more swarf on there than usual.

Finally got 'round to working on the general today.
Popped the balljoint and low and behold, the pot joint slid freely straight out the side of the diff. WITH PART OF THE DIFF STILL IN IT!!

Ripped the engine out (I've had a bit of practice lately  ) and pulled the diff out the back of the gearbox.

Now is this weird? The Diff pin has dislodged somehow and moved about 10 to 20mm from where it should have been, and has gouged nich chunks out of the diff and gearbox casing.

I don't want to f%^k around with metal in my nice new engine, so I've dropped the whole lot around to Greig Maluare, and he's going to strip the gearbox and make sure it's all fine and bolt it all back together for me. I don't really need this right now, but I'm told he builds a mean gearbox, and that'll be the quickest, easiest way to get the beast running. I"m still hoping to get my exhaust and tune done, and still make Wakefield

Anyone wanting to help put the beast back together over the weekend sometime will be welcomed and greatly appreciated. I may even have the keys to the new house then and do it in the new garage!!! :D

Shite.
I forgot about Sunday.
Was probably not going to be racing anyway - have to get my officials Grading, so May be Assistant Director or something.
