Hey I've also got a pair of KT26 SAFETY shoes...
Look nearly the same but got steel toecaps.
I don't wear them to work- they are about as MIG weld `spatter resistant' as the originals.. ie, NOT!

I'll change the topic to get back on topic.... I painted my calipers a while back, but didn't use the special epoxy brake paint, as I couldn't wait for it to dry, so I got a spray can of hammer finish paint instead, dries real quick, tough and durable, and BlInG bLiNg metallic too. :D
The metallic light blue calipers look great on my dark blue metallic car.

The paint is lasting OK?
I didn't think the calipers got that hot anyway, and the high temp paint I've got doesn't come out the colour I want..

Have you got any picks Bro?

Paint is lasting very well, especially considering the woefully poor prep work (went over them with a wire brush in a drill..... yep , that was it for the prep work  ) and that it was the cheapest hammer paint i could find (White Knight Pacific Blue in a spray).
I have done about 15,000 km since i painted them, and the first damage i have noticed was last week when I had a balance and alignment done, they did chip the edge in 2 places.
I did the 4 calipers (it's not a Mini as you can see from the pic) and still have 3/4 of the spray can left, so there is plenty for touch ups.

My calipers have been sandblasted and primed (hopefully the primer will coap with the heat), and this was done with them assembled.
When they are ready to be painted with caliper paint, should I assemble the two 'halves' and paint over the gap or paint the parts separately (easier to do the inside)and mask up the binding/sealing surface?
Will this need any special prep like gasket paper, silicon or anything?
I can't tell if there is anything on there or not, apart from the 'O' ring. :?

I just push the pistons right in, assemble the halves, wash with metho and paint it inside & out. The paint helps stop the dust shields rusting...

But apart from the 'o' ring between the two cast portions of the caliper, does anything need to go on those steel faces to keep crap out?

I like the paint tip for the dust deals, it'll make painting easier if I dont have to mask the holes! Thanks. :D

No, nothing goes in there besides that bridge seal.
Both faces are flat and the bolts hold them tight. No gap.
