yer fixing point on the parcel shelf will be close to the seat as the PO put 9x6 speaker holes and a Subby

I think I'e mentioned it before, but holes in the parcel shelf are an MOT/WOF failure in NZ.

There is not only the reinforcing plate for the seatbelt, but the child restraint needs to be mounted to a strengthened part of the shell. Most modern cars have the seat restraint bolt holes there already, and the parts required are fairly substantial - they're not just mild steel.

The other aspect is not only your child, but any subsequent owners may rely on your handiwork, so getting a pro to do it is the only reasonable way, so $350 isn't extortionate.

I was thinking the same thing. Danielle has a similar seat and with the four door cars we can sit right beside her as we put her in.

sue will have to climb into the back with him in order to strap him in - make sure she is forwarned. :D

Years ago!!!! When our first came along, I had a K and I copied the hole positions of a clubby and with backing plates of the same size installed a LAP belt only. Put the car seat fitting in the rear parcel shelf and Bob's your uncle.

Cheers guys  Yep, Sue is aware she will be required to get into the back seat to put Owen in, she has test run it already.
Sue will not, repeat Will Not drive our Bigger Car Alfa 75 as she loves her Mini. anyway I won't him to grow up on mini's anyway
Regarding to the parcel shelf...yep thats why I got Littles to do it for us. If I had done it, it would not have be approved and possible insurance void if anything happened :!:

Just beware that as the little one starts to pack on the kilos, the risk of a lower back injury will increase (that's why 4wd are popular with families, you can stand upright and strap the kids in).
You may want to try a technique in which you can slide him down into the seat from the outside, and then climb in to strap him in. :D

And when they get to 2 years old, a hand held Tazer gun is also useful.
