I have a few sets of Cooper 7" disc brakes and i was wondering if the 7.5" Cooper S rotors will fit on the hubs or are they completly different. I suppose the calipers would be different too. The 7" rotors I have a quite worn i think and I thought I could upgrade to 7.5 rotors. Any advice would be appreciated.
Steve.

Yes S discs will fit, all mini disc brake hubs are the same, you can easily update to S brakes by changing over the disc, caliper & drive flange.

Bromley, I think one set of rotors is no good, I will have a close look. I may still use the other set if they are ok. I will get back to you about that. Does anyone know how thin is too thin for the Cooper rotors.

Just a quick barrier perhaps,

The CV's for the cooper discs are the same as drum brakes, the CV's that are needed for S brakes or 8.4's i think are different.

Hope this helps. Check it out though

Brad

Steve,
When I got my rotors machined the brake people had a book with all the widths. Maybe try calling a brake place if you get no luck on here. I am also digging up a photo of the rotors taken out of my mates car. They were wafer thin, I snapped one in half with my hands like a biscuit!

Cooper 997 & 998 rotors are only 1/4" (6.35mm) thick when new. I believe minimum limit is 5mm.
Sure it's thin but they still do work, haha. 8)

are cooper drive flanges and cooper s drive flanges the same? apart from the cv diameter?

if so couldnt you use 7'' flanges with drum CVs with cooper s discs and calipers?

that makes sence to me as the drive flange on cooper discs looks the same as cooper s to me, and would make things a hell of alot cheaper

No, unfortunately they are totally different. Cooper 997 & 998 used the drum type CV, the Cooper drive flange looks like the offspring of an S and a drum one.

ps I might have a spare s/h S one, I'll look.
