Manton used a MGB powered Mk II Austin 1800 ute as his race car tow vehicle, painted in the same Shell Racing Team colours. The premises at the top of Elizabeth Street consisted of the showrrom on the ground floor, the Special Tuning dealership upstairs on the first floor, and a workshop at the rear. By memory there was a used car lot beside the building. It's all still there but almost unrecognisable now. For years it was the holy grail of Mini enthusiasts.

I understand Craig Watson is intending to do a feature on Manton at some stage in his magazine. As for photos the Public Record Office of Vic and the State Library both hold extensive collections of archival photos of most city sites. I'm pretty sure they would have one from the 60s or early 70s that showed the building. Interior shots may be a bit of a problem though, unless you can track down someone who worked there.

The company was sold around 69 to Jim Smith who was a major Melbourne automotive dealer and a BLMC works driver. He drove Improved Production Cooper Ss with some success as part of the "Young Lions" BMC Australia works team. Later he drove the works P6B Traco 4.3 Rover which Leyland imported from the UK after the closure of Abingdon by Lord Stokes in 1970. I guess all the company records and photos could be with Jim Smith still.

Re Manton's famous racing Mini (his last Improved Production 1310 S).

This was bought by Brent Benzi who continued to race it for a while in the Super Mini series in Victoria. I understand he still has the car but both now reside in the USA...

David King, who once worked for Mini Bits in Melbourne and later opened his own Mini tuning/accessory business nearby at Springvale Rd, created a replica of Manton's early Cooper S which he raced in Appendix J. Not sure what hapeened to that - or David King - but Watto may eventually throw some light on it in his great magazine.
