Well its time to start thinking about painting the motor.
THe car is at the paint shop doing its thing so i need to start getting my crap together!!!
I've got my bling rocker cover and T handles all good.

NOW>

What should i use to degrease the motor with?
And is it worth stripping the miniscule amount of baked on yellow paint or get it right back to the metal and start again.

ALso, masking.
I'd like to do the flywheel housing and gearbox a different colour, so how do i go about masking off?
Just use masking tape and nyoozpapier?

Any tips/hints/abuse/ whatever greatly appreciated.
Cheers,,,
Will..

If you are brave with the water, steam or high pressure cleaning will get things off to a good start, just be sure to put wome wd40 on and exposed steel when done.

I think the thing to be absolutely certain of is to seal absolutely positevely every exposed orifice in the engine (ports, oilways on top of the head, waterways etc) if youre gonna go at it with a wire brush - get lazy here and let crap into the engine and you'll pay later.

Oh and the more paint you remove with the wire wheels (and the more grease comes off with a degreaser and a stiff brush) the easier and better the paint job will be.

strip the motor, steam clean the parts, paint seperately and assemble.
