I am sorry to read about the sad events that happened to Steve - I feel very sorry for anyone whose dreams and passions become shattered which also included a financial loss due to someone else's greed and stupidity.

Do we know whether the offending mechanic offered up or was forced into some form of compensation?

Well there are two sides to any story. I think it was not as clear cut as sg made out.

At the end of the day, I bet TK got a bargain. I would have bought that car if I had the space. Had a motor ready to go in it at the time too.
