It's getting a heart transplant (Barney's previous 1098 one) with the usual trimmings- stage 2 head, twin HS2s, RE13 cam, LCB, RC40. 8)

<edit> structurally it just needs a new front panel & RF guard.

A few questions from a learner, can you explain what the following things are and what how they improve your car.

Stage 2 head
HS2s (type of su carbie?)
RE13 Cam (I know what the cam is - please explain the RE13)
LCB - Extractors??
RC40 - Exhaust??

I hear these terms on ausmini all the time but have never asked for more details. I have begun the rebuild of my 1100 block and would like to know details of these things, considering they are what you term - "the usuall trimmings"

Please help me out with any advice on the rebuild. Already going to be 20thou oversized with a standard crank.

Andy.

RE13 cam is a Graham Russel special grind. The RE is for Russel Engineering.

RC40 is the rear muffler (and resonator ona twin box). I think RC40 is simply the part number.

Wendy, your new van looks like Barney (colour wise)

Nice score. I want a van too :P

Stage 2 head...performance tuning costs money, so they invented various stages of tune all the way up to almost race level.....you can do it in stages (1-4)...stage two is a nice compromise for a road car.

HS2s (type of su carbie?) one and half inch

RE13 Cam (I know what the cam is - please explain the RE13).....Graeme Russells most popular road cam???

LCB - Extractors??..long centre branch....supposed to be the most efficient way to extract exhaust gases

RC40 - Exhaust??...a classic and popular exhaust system for Mini

What colour(s) are you thinking of painting it Kev?

My van is currently Rover Pendellican White (as used on Jags and SD1s in late 70s) but it's going in for a respray after Christmas before I fit the new 1360 project engine and I'm trying to decide on a colour - maybe a creamier white this time. I like vans to be understated and all one colour, rather than a different coloured roof (sedans the opposite - loud colours contrasting roof).

I'm entrusting it to Evolution Crash Repairs at Blair Athol. They did a complete respray of my wife's Rover Quintet a couple of years ago in two pack and it was a top job for $3k all up which included fixing a few rusty bits. It still looks like new.
