I would probably say double valve springs are a must with a Re-13 powerband from 2700 to a if your engine is up to it 7700rpm

Due to the increased valve lift you should fit C-AEA526 springs or similar. These are good for 8000 rpm, and are 1 coil shorter so will stand 0.495" valve lift. 8)
Not absolutely essential with stock rockers (S double springs will do) but you WILL need these with 1.5s.

I've used all sorts of cams in 1275s and over: ST 544 (not bad), 731 (boring), 649 (good goer but a bit much in traffic), Wades (1760, 510?), Kents, (286, 266) Waggot and Piper (270). I'm now about to try the RE 13 so it will be interesting to compare.

Vizard rated the 731 as next to useless if you're hoping for any real power, although it's ok for a mildly tuned road car.

Never tried a scatter cam as I've heard conflicting reports on how well they work - and they cost twice as much as the more conventional ones.
