Found this morning on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/1978-Leyland-Min ... dZViewItem

No RH tank, no discs, 1100cc motor, no hydrospastic, badged as an "S" on the boot, labelled a "Clubman GT" on the boot tally plate.

Bit dubious here

Hooroo

Well , I guess they had to move on , it wasn't many years ago nearly every roundnose for sale had a cooper S bumper and a couple of holes drilled in the boot and bonnet and was a "rediscovered" Cooper S . It's easy to claim somethings a clubby GT , some people wouldn't know any different .

It's easy to forget that not everyone is a mini aficionado. Every now and then I come across someone who thinks that every round nose is a Cooper S, every Cooper S is British Racing Green, and that his or her last mini was 2 litres.

I gave up a long time ago trying to educate everyone I came across, but I will take exception to the "every Cooper S was green" type who by inference tell me that my S is fake.

Anyone else come across this type?

1100cc engine, inch and a 1/4 carb, non spacered drums all round, no centre console..

its a bog leyland mini with innocenti flares, S rims, 3 guage cluster and incorrect badging.

looks to be in good condition.

maybe i should put GT badges on my car.. it will only cost me 50 bucks but the value of my car will skyrocket LOL! :D

Constantly , you try having something scarcer that most people haven't heard of , a lot of so called experts have argued strongly with me that I used English badges or made up badges as there was never anything produced called a sports 850 .....

I liked the "Morris" Sticker on the rear screen.

Nice touch.

Saw that vehicle on ebay this morning. Just reading the text indicated this person really wasn't up to speed and I am only just returning to "Minidom" after a very long absence.
And exactly what do they do in a "safety expection" ? (see what I mean)

Gee I get frustrated at some ebay adverts. Two things mainly
1. The sheer lack of correct spelling and grammer. In an advert, I just feel that if the vendor cant get the words right then what is the car going to be like. ???

2. The second thing is the photographs. So many just race out and take a snap with a flash at midnight (or what ever) and the result is an almost unviewable photo yet it appears on ebay. Again lack of detail from the vendor.

I am more tolerant of descriptions though. Most people have inflated values when it comes to THEIR car in both condition and dollar value and I can accept that and adjust accordingly. I do ,however, have a very low opinion of those who deliberately misrepresent and i recently walked away from a pseudo Torana GTR because it was blatantly fudged.

Don't forget my pet hate , "I'm selling this on behalf of a friend and I don't have the engine/body number's" or "I don't know what the car's like" . Often followed by a 2 day delay and then they tell you to ring the seller on a mobile number .....

Sorry - was a generic shot - not aimed at any one person and aimed at Ebay sellers not ausmini members.
