Have found oput the next meeting is in march and there is no ways im going to make that so i have 14 months to prepare for the next one.
I have a few ideas i would like to run with and have a mini here i can use although using one that side is a better idea.

Yeah i need skinny tires but need to find out the drag and if a wider tyre would spread load better or pick up on the salt and create more drag causing the car to slow down.

I have a lot of work to do before i even start building the motor etc so if anyone has any info for me let me know.

I read an article on the Bluebird land speed record - will try an find it :?

They used tyreless alloy wheels that cut through the crust on top with a minimum of drag :o

Drag is the enemy. Things like brakes, wheel bearings and CV joints all effect drag.
ball bearings vs roller bearings?
Disc vs Drum?
Pot joints vs Hardy Spicer?

Transmission drag.....
Straight cut gears, what oil, windage tray, how much oil pressure.
Do you really need 4 gears and reverse?

Lots of things to think of.

waht part of no body modifications and it must be as it came off the production line is difficult to understand?

Yeah were weighing it all up on what is required with the drag componants and wind drag etc.
to get a motor to produce the sort of power required is the hard one.
bigger motors are not so much of a problem but its the 998 class that is hardest.

Does the bore and stroke have to remain standard? or is it just the capacity has to be under 1000cc.
I was thinking that bigger bore and shorter stroke........

I want o go 68mm bore 68mm stroke which would give a 999cc and the motor would be box square but need to also make torque.
a 970 would be perfect but havent got one of those laying around and havent seen one ever before.
as long as its a mini motor and less that 1000 cc should have no hassles.
