By knee in to the front wheel arch thing.... do you mean something like this??
Image
Thats what my mini looked like when i bought it :(

besides the dent there is also a little "tear" in the seem which you can just see in the photo, this tear makes the panel flex in and out really easily.

is this repairable with some welding and beating? or should i change the panel?

bastards!! I've had enough things ripped off and smashed on my mini, I don't want a knee in the side of it either.

G'Day Thorlek,
Definately repairable as you should be able to get to the back of most of that part of the panel. Steel panels are relatively soft so dont need a big hammer on the flatter parts, just lots of little taps with a panel beaters hammer and dolly, otherwise you will stretch the metal and then you will have a big "oil-can". Work on getting the curve back at the side of the headlight first as that bend holds the rest of the shape further back. When you get that bit right the rest of the panel should just about pop back by itself. Make up some cardboard templates from the good side and use them as a guide to show you how far out things are.
Once the shape is set then (carefully) MIG up the tear.

The other night while i was at work, night packer, some drunken f*** throw up down the back of my car and left a nice boot print with a dent and cracked paint to proved he'd been there. If i had of been there i would have left him with a nice dent.

My Minivan was jumped on by kids at the railway station a few years ago. Hence I drive the Corona to the station now. So far it doesn't attract attention.

Vincent: Boy, I wish I could've caught him doing it. I'd have given anything to catch that asshole doing it. It'd been worth him doing it just so I could've caught him doing it.
Lance: What a f*cker!
Vincent: What's more chickensh*t than f*cking with a man's automobile? I mean, don't f*ck with another man's vehicle.
