Hey guys and girls,

I'm driving to Sydney tomorrow from Terrigal. First stop will be Enmore for an hour, then it's off to Lillipilli around at 11am.

The thing I am worried about is that the engine has only done around 600 clicks. Has anybody got any tips on driving through the city and avoiding over-heating? I haven't got a thermo fan so that's out of the question. I'll be checking the coolant and oil level in the morning before I leave and will try to get to the city by 9:30am to beat the heat.

Cheers,

Scotty.

It shouldn't overheat should it?

When waiting in traffic don't sit too close to the car infront otherwise you're sucking in their hot exhaust fumes... :?

If the cooling system is in good nick it should have no problems Terrigal to Sydney..i've done it many times..

Only thing i have found is sitting dead stopped in a tunnel really starts to increase temps..so maybe avoid the tunnels if you're worried.

If you find it does heat up, pull over and let it cool for a bit..

Raising the revs a bit will also get the fan working a bit harder to circulate the air through the radiator, particularly if your idle is low.

you would not expect the Harbour tunnel to bank up on the Weekend?

If it does overheat, turning the heater on can sometimes help - extra volume and also that water in the loop is normally cooler til it circulates around and heats up.

But yeah, just pull over and let it rest for 15-20mins and try again. Once your're underway with fresh air flowing through again, it should be OK.

I agree with Gafmo, traffic shoudln't be too bad at 9:30 on a saturday.

PLus we never use the tunnel

You could use the Harbour bridge and go down George St (with Traffic light's) and onto Broadway and then turn left into Newtown!!

thier is always so many ways to get around Syndeys road blocks!!

Thanks guys. The plane is to head over the bridge, down George st, down into Enmore that way. I'll make sure I take a few vital tools ie: 1/2", 9/16" shifter, more coolant, gaf tape and WD40! :D
