Hi All,

I am Matt in Stanmore in Sydney. Currently miniless, though I have owned two 1963 850s both of which I foolishly sold after reconditioning their engines and box. Ah the folly of youth.

My brother owned a Mk2 cooper in the early eighties which was where I discovered the wonderful world of Minis.

After trawling the web, I found Ausmini which has rekindled my desire to find get back into owning and enjoying minis again. Though this time a bit faster than the 850s were.

I'm Cooper. I have a 1971 Leyland Mini. It has a big motor. That is what the last owner told me. It goes quite fast. I live in NSW. Hi everyone!

Suppose I should finally get myself onto this..... :)

I'm David, I'm in Townsville with the Army (could end up anywhere though). I bought Mack in late '03 and he sparked my interest in all that is cars. I've got many plans, but lacking in the money- not that I'm alone there:D

Always ready for a quiet beer (or 12)- Hope to gain some knowledge off all of you (and one day give some back when I get some). 8)

Hi All,

Have been reading the posts for the last few weeks and thought I had better put something down here.

I don't have a mini and haven't for a few years but the bug has bitten again. Aaaaaahhhh!

Previously I have had a 74 & 76 Clubby and a 998 LS. But I am on the lookout for a roundy this time (if the wife and finances allow) . My mini interest was started by my parents about 30years ago when my family (6 in total) crammed into one of 2 850's to drive anywhere. Dad also being a Leyland mechanic and since a JRA rep and so on (still in the British Car trade) also encorouged doing up cars from sh*%tboxes.

Look forward to picking up a few ideas and maybe a car or two.... as well as anything I can add until

Cheers :D
Pete

Hi Pete , welcome to the madhouse  , any pictures of the family crammed into the 850 ? Good to have the backup of someone who know's mini's and can help you with them , but still don't be shy about asking questions here .

David , good to see some more Mokes turning up on here , does Mack become the butt of jokes on base and get put into odd places ?

Sports850: He does become the butt of many jokes on base- but there's another 3 or 4 on base, so It's not too bad- never been put in odd places though It wouldn't suprise if he did! :D

He's gained some respect because of his handling ability 8) and I'll generally keep up with most of the cars straight off the line but once I get into 2nd......well you know how it goes.

Hi I'm Tod from Sydney.

Currently own a genuine 1968 Morris Cooper 'S'. It's red with a white roof and white bonnet stripes. It used to be my daily driver but last two years has been retired to weekend/ occasional trips spending more time in the garage than on the road. It has been superseeded by my XR6. Unfortunately I'm going to have to sell the 'S' due to lack of space and money

I also currently own a 1967 Morris Mini Van which I was planning to restore but life got in the way. Anyone looking for a Van to restore?

My first car (immediately before the 'S') was a 'Yellow Devil' 1978 Leyland Mini clubman 998cc but I sold that about 6 years ago. At one time I had all three Mini's in my driveway.

Man, I wish I had found this forum earlier, as it appears to be a great resource and filled with great people.

Man, did you get that wrong! :P

Welcome Tod - I'm sure someone will take the van off your hands.

Hi Jon , you'de better start ducking now as there will be a lot of questions heading your way about interior fitouts .... Is the 73 min on the road and going to be a rolling rebuild or are you starting from a rougher mini ?
