1: its a roundie
2: its not a rover but a leyland
3: its got internal door hinges.
4: its got a twin cam 16 valve engine.

Morris1100 is right.
For the doubting Thomases, see the following car on historic plates that did the MINI garage run recently. This car can answer YES to questions 1 to 3, its a early 70's UK Leyland (I thought it was a Rover before the owner corrected me).

guy's , check out the mini in my post in the members gallery , it's a 78 leyland mini with internal hinges and larger windows . They aren't as common over here as the rovers are now but there's still a few about .

No doubting thomas here. I think most of us know that not all internal hinged Minis are Rovers. For example Mutant is a 72 MkIII.

The internal hinges came out in 1969 in the UK (1967 or 68 on the Elf and HOrnet). But they were never fitted to an Aussie Mini. Hence they are difficult to find.

666 may be lucky and stumble across a MkIII shell.

In Brissy we have a few special 70's Leyland Clubmans that have been converted to internal hindges. These Minis also have been converted to round nose and single bolt, soft mounted subframes.

yeah,,,of course they are Ty :-) You & me know how they did that, but the unsuspecting buys don`t hey?

Nastey nastey business!!!!!!!!!

BUT!!!!!!!!

Cons yellow Gti mini is a genuine English mini, no re-vin. I bought the parts from the same guy that he bought the body from with him.

UK cars were internal hinges way way earlier than most people think.

I really wish that so many people here with only half an idea of what`s right & wrong would stop posting their "half" ideas on what`s right & wrong....if you think you`re right, then you`re most probably wrong...I "KNOW" i`m right,,,there`s a big difference.

Mini business's thrive on that ignorance stuff.

"My mini seems to be missing sir, is there anything you can do about it?"

"Oh yes matey me boy-o, nothing a good engine re-build won't help"

"How much will that cost sir?"

"Well let's not talk about that eh?, ask no questions and tell no lies and all that."

i believe you need to cutout the A-pillars and replace them with internal hinged ones...as well as source new doors to fit said pillars...you may also need to replace the B-pillars coz i'd imagine the locking mechanisms and other crap arent compatible with the later model doors...not sure i dont really know 100% but i have considered this myself at one stage in the distant past...i basically remember looking into it and dunking it into the TOO HARD basket :P but if you've got the money...anything's possible :)

personally i love the external hinges :) sure they sag...and they arent exactly rock solid...and if you swing the door too far out they can buckle some of the body work :P but hey! you can't place a price on being COOL!
