hey people i need to transport a mini any ideas?
its not registered so no driving and its a fair drive..

From where to where and what do you have as your daily driver ? Can you tow it yourself if required ? I've always found if you've got enough time to wait for things to line up a furniture removalist's van is a good starting point , they are often looking for backloads . I used to get a local one to retrieve my latest mini finds but he's retired now , he'd do it for his drinking money for the month , Sydeny or Sunshine coast to Yamba was $150 . Failing that check with the trucking companies near you though they may want a ramp at each point to make loading easier (or they'll want to use a forklift .....) . Then get a quote from a car carrier and see what's the difference ....

i moved mine with a normal car trailor from my local servo - bout 45mins drive, no dramas - as long as you can get it on the trailor your sweet

I have used hired trailers on many many occasions. They are all just about bullet proof but heavy and hard to tow. Added to that, they nearly all are fairly high with short ramps which makes it hard to load a lot of low cars without bottoming the car half way on.

There is only ONE way to tie down a car on a trailer and that is to use chains and D bolts or some similar locking device. Remember that a car hardly ever gets jerked off the back but heaps jump into the back of the tow car in a panic stop. They need to be chained so they cant go forward or backwards.

You watch, the first decent hill tell you that your radiator needs a recore or a good flush. And you cant tow a hire trailer with a datsun 1200 coupe. Strictly speaking the tow vehicle should be heavier than the combined weight of the trailer and the vehicle on it.

Sometimes a tow truck is as cheap as hiring a trailer! I know because I have done both. Ring around!

I got sick of hiring 800kg 15 foot trailers just to tow a 10 foot 600kg Mini all the time. Especially when I had the Kia Sportage as a tow car - slow trips!!

So I now have a Mini-sized car trailer.

If you are in the Mini Club, ask around. A lot of guys probably have their own trailers and may lend one to you.

im just in the process of getting a mini transported from sa to sydney... i went through movingcars.com.au and can track it online... it was alot cheaper than other places.. transported in an enclosed truck $565
