I keep hearing about getting paint mixed in an aerosol can, is it Acrylic or enamel?
Does anyone in Melbourne/Vic do this and what is the cost per can?
I want to tidy up my engine bay while the motor's out and I think this would be an easy option.

Can't remember the actual cost ($12-15?) but I've had them done at both a local paint supplier and panel beater. Not sure what the paint was but it did the small area I was doing ok. Give a few panel shops a go. If no luck PM me for the details of where I went.

Anyone see Kazjims brick when it was Yellow ? That was done with LOTS AND LOTS of areosol cans...yes..the ENTIRE exterior of the mini...all cans...

Pretty sure its acrylic ?

You can have any tint put in an aerosol can, my local place does it while you wait. It's a good idea to put any leftover into a spray can as it will then keep for years without going off. Think they charged about $60 but

One of the reasons I painted my car the colour that I did was that is was readily available in spray cans from places like Sprint & Repco.

now that's practicality!

the aerosols only give you about 150-200ml of actual paint, value for money wise it's poo.... if you have access to a compressor and spray gun, go for that option instead

autobahn will do it for 24 bucks and it is acrylic. I think they do a 700gram pressure pack.

Its not the cheapest way of doing it but its convient for small touch ups when you don't have a compressor and spray gun.Theres no way I would do it for a whole car.

my pop swears by them when he's repairing panel damage. Takes in a small part of the car thats painted, gets a colour match done and takes the paint home in a spray can.

Couldn't resist dropping in this joke, which must be read witha swedish accent:

A guy in Sweden goes into a chemist and asks for some deodourant.
The assistant says "Certainly sir. Ball or Aerosol?"
The guy replies "Nah, for under my arms"

There's a bit of kit I've found in several panel beating supply shops that works well. From memory it comes from France and consists of a small glass bottle and a pressure pack attachment.

You fill the bottle with normal automotive paint and then use it just like a pressure pack. When you finish, you empty left over paint back into the tin, clean the unit out and its ready for another colour.

The pressure packs aren't that expensive and one canister is more than enough for several coats on an engine/gearbox.

We have those systems down here , normally in hobby shops , they work well for small touch ups and are versatile . Might take a while to do a full engine though but would be efficient on the amount of paint they use .
