Dont go looking for the drain plug too hard if you cant find it. My tank doesnt have one.... probably because leyland ran out of money to put them in '76 minis. Make sure if you do just turn the tank around a bit that the flex hose is still in good condition. I had a bad experience on my car when i had moved the tank over a bit and the rubber fuel hose was getting a bit tired. I went over to antos to help with his gearbox change, we came back to my place to get a tool and i could smell petrol from outside the garage. 7L of optimax all through my boot and around the battery which was still connected  . I ended up pulling all the drain plugs and emptying the fuel into cans (good lawnmower fuel now). Petrol had also seeped through the tar sealer to the back seat panel aswell luckily not enough to get on the carpet. Anyway enough from me. It may be an idea to replace that small section of hose while your at it.
