Heh- Makka, Cooper S had forged rockers with square ends, not those A+ sintered rubbish...
Put 'em in the bin if they are sintered ones, that's where they belong. Worst rockers BL ever made.. :x

Anybody wants one this is bloody cheap, if complete.

A full new set of valves, springs and guides costs hundreds!

I will pay thepostage to get rid of it if you wish - no rockers but everything else is there to plonk on. Honestly if you are running a standard lift cam and standard rocker gear, the reliefs are of secondary concern. I ran the thing on the 998 for near on 12 months with not a spot of bother from it. The only reason I removed it was I was putting the 202 with unleaded conversion on it.

Yeah they will run on a 998 with stock cam, without notching the block. Be careful though if you have a high lift cam, or if you overrev it much- you will bend exhaust valves...!

It is really not hard to notch the block. I did it in the car once, back in 1968... :P
Details are in Des Hammill's book How to power tune the BMC/BL/Rover 998 A series engine", but basically you use a 998 gasket to mark out the top of the block, and then cut a recess .100" deep (2.5mm) following the outline of gasket on the exhaust side of the bore. Ensure the depth of cut is well clear of the top ring land.

When you fit the head on, you MUST use a 1275 gasket. A 998/1098 gasket will leave water holes uncovered and water will pi$$ everwhere...
