i'm pretty sure its because a 'pointless' eleccy dizzy (no thats not a pun, i want one) is sealed (no points no arcing, no ozone, no need for air.. even if theyre not sealed they are solid state (no open close switch that shorts out with water)

efi is not really the point.. its just generally speaking efi cars are new enough to have eleccy dizzys

my mate was driving along in his mini and got past by a truck driving through a big puddle one wet and wintery day and the truck splashed a bug wave of water over the front of the car.. and the poor little bugger just stopped dead (baarrrgggghhh).. pulled over open the cap, wait till it dries....

when i bought my car it had a bright pink rotting robberglove over the leads.. id rather deal with the wet weather then have that there

You can help things by smearing silcone grease on the connectors at the base of the leads then reinserting them. You can also fit a splashguard in front of the dissy - clear perspex attached to the inside of the grill if you want ...there is also a kit you can buy which is fitted to Rover Minis (ugly though) .....just watch your water temp for a while ....

Moving the coil from behind the grille will help too. I found (after fitting a Pertronix to the Lucas dizzy, replacing points) that the only `wet weather' problem was flashover of the spark onto terminals at the top of the coil.
After I moved it onto the RH inner guard, I could hose the running motor with no problems. 8)

dude... original Cooper S rims, I've got a set on my MK 2 Cooper S, and I had a set of CHROMED (bling bling) ones on my panel van before I got a defect for it being too low, so I put my 12" contessas on.... they're on the shelf and they're not for sale :P

they come up on ebay occasionally, usually sell for ~$250 ish a set
