I would like to go hammer and tong at my busted up guards on the Project Sunshine.
The guards have been damaged by wheely bins and need to be fixed.

Now I have been accused of being rough (My workmates gave me a butcher's apron for a present when I finished my trade), but am not very good at directing my rough blows into auto panels such as that the panel becomes straighter as I do so. Is there a good online tutorial or can anyone offer any tips on how I might straighten these out?




P.S. What do you think of the S rims I have sand blasted and painted up, pretty cool huh?
Can't reccomend using beach sand for blasting, blah!

I have the task of restoring some Leyland S rims on a customers car... can you tell us your method so I can cheat a bit?

Was thinking of getting them powdercoated silver and then masking up and pressure-pack gloss black the black parts.

Pretty much that like you said, but I simply free handed the painting. Much work but pretty satisfactory in the end.

Did you pressure pack teh silver too?

Did the wheely bins hit you? or did you run the bastards over? I've got a guard that looks like that which I intend to tackle this week. Not sure how yet but, It's been put off to long.

The previous owner had dealings with some wheelie bins before he abandoned it.
I had to replace a shattered Cv and a bent steering arm on the drivers side as well.
The paint was pressure packed on, I will throw a coat of satin clear coat over for good measure before I am done.

I've got a headlining to go in, both front and rear windscreen rubbers and inserts, the motor runs like a sewing machine it is so smooth and the engine bay has cleaned up nicely (even though it's black). The brakes are good and pedal feel is exellent, the wiring is slowly being sorted out (rotten kids and their great big piss off stereos), and so will the original seats once I get some trim material. I'm busy on the front suspension knuckles and while I'm there the suspension rubbers as well.

If anyone has a set of front door cards that would be tops, like these there would be much rejoicing. This is one of the two in the back


I'm also after a standard clubby steering wheel for it, but will handle a moke type wheel if someone has one in the Perth area.

It's an odd ball project and will probably be sold once I have restored it back to a reasonable state to another enthusiast. This is just for the love of fumbling around on minis.
