Did anyone see David Wheatleigh's "American Racer" tyres ? Apparently they are fantastic!!.... not road legal as I understand, but I might look at getting some in for the track.

The interesting thing is they are 165/60r10 - smaller profile. I have heard they will be DOT approved.

Let me know if you are thinking of getting some as I wouldn't mind finding out where to get them myself.

Saw the tyres, but The lap times don't show reflect much difference between the Avon Radials (Troy), the Hoosier Cross plys (Ben) and the American Racers (DW)?

Anyway, here is a pic of Ben sandwiched in Race 3 and the RX2 leading Race 2

If you look carefully in the pic of the RX2 you can see Troys Mini just before of the bridge (I know it's Troy from the pink torana behind)

Cheers

Great shots DOZ (which reminds me...bought a DOZ KKs back so the family loves me  ).

and if you look really really carefully, you can see me in white legs and dark jacket just off the end of the bridge!

gee, every pic i have to strain to see me way off behind! haha. teach me for being a slow arse!!! i would post the pic of me in front of the monaro, but i am on my pda driving north to coffs...

assume all tyres achieve a similar best laptimes - which they did.......

hoosiers at around 200 a tyre will last 3 or 4 meetings.

advans at 170, last 2 race meetings.. or less!

avons at 220 a tyre have lasted me about 6 meetings.

american racers have had a track day, bathurst meeting and now oran park and are barely worn.... oh and they are 120 a tyre.... and they turn in!

better bang for your buck potentially. and diameter is less than an inch difference... not much.
