Screwdriver? spanner? to take the flares off to paint them.

If you go to Supercheap or Repco you will buy only the colours they have available. If you go to AutoOne or Autobarn or any of the spares outlests that have a paint mixing section they will make you up a pressure pack can in any colour you want. Just take in your paint code or a paint chip and they will match it for you.

It may only be pump the button type of pressure bottle rather than a pressue gas propellant type of can but they do the job.

You do need a scouring pad to score the existing paint. Some wax, oil and grease removerl (prepsol, its commonly called) and a primer / undercoat compatible with your paint type.

if you want the paint to last longer then two months then u need to get a sheet of scotch brite, run the flares down so they are nice and scuffed, then apply a plastic primer (its different to normal stuff) then apply a normal primer over that, then the top coat, then a coat or two of clear. thats the best home job way of doing it, and will bring you the best results

thanks might go into bunnings then.

and they are unpainted... do i need to scuff them? will it just let the primer stick better or something?

and you recommend only one coat of paint before putting clear on? will i need clear? i assume my flares will be shinyer than everywhere else on my car

sorry i should have said it better, the scuffing is to allow the primer to stick onto the surface yes, then about 3 coats of paint, then 1 or 2 of clear, with the clear, it depends how dull the rest of the car is, but i assume that when it was painted it had clear put on it, if so, the car will polish up as good as new
