I was wondering what size tyres would be best for my 1974 Leyland mini? I have mags like the ones in the picture

Guys(and girls...teehee) - if you want Yoko stuff and to save any angst, contact Christian at Yoko head office - he will let you know who has them and their rate. Saves you a lot of legwork and heartache.

Tyre places say these things because they cant be bothered most times and they are also pushing their products as well therefore not in their interest to get yoko's in when they are pushing Falkens and/or Bridgestone.

Food for thought

What size and width are your mags and "how" do you drive your mini ? Are you just after something for good mileage and an occasional thrash or something more serious ?

The tyres that are on currently are 14/80R10 (Kumho). Probabyl good mileage with occasional thrash is pretty close to the description i would use :D .

I'm assuming it's 145/80R10 ? check with the tyre guy's but I'd say you'd be able to go to 165's and there are a lot of tyres available , Bridgestone's (SF310 Turbo ???)were once everyones favourites , then Falken came along and everyone switched to them . Then the bigger names became a bit cheaper in the 10" sizes and a lot are using Yoki's and better bridgestones . I'd be inclined to still say use Falken though as they are (or were a couple of years ago when I bought my last set) reasonably priced , last a fair while and give reasonable performance . If you really want performance then you'll have to spend more and go for a softer tyre which will wear quicker . Others on here prefer the better tyres but if it's for good mileage and a bit of fun I'd say Falken . Anyone else got any tips ?

good choice of tyre there. I heard they becoming quite rare. When I bought my 13" ones i got two. the guy said they were 2 of the last 4 in aus. dont know how true that is.

Yes you were correct with the 145. I will see if 165 will fit, i have flared guards so shouldn't be a problem. The place where i get my tyres from has Yoki and Falken so will see what kind they can get, i assume they way you said it it is easier to get the 165's.

Thanks for the info

do not I repeat do not go the falkoons

get yoko's or if you dont wanna spend that much get some bridgestone sf-226's they are made in japan and arent a bad tyre and the last.
but we bought another mini about a month ago it had falkens on it and as soon as there was any water on the road it was like iceskating (this is the general consenses with most people. Needless to say we had new yoko's on it within 2 days.

but just buy the yoko's

As I don't have my licence I had to take the rims off and take them down in my sisters car hence thgey look the way they do. Dad took her for a spin on sunday and said they felt fantastic.

I ended up paying 123 plus 10 bucks for fitting so al in all 133 a tyre. I don't know if i was ripped off or not but I don;t really care as i know own them.
