I have seen this in the flesh people...and words cannot describe how good it is!!!!! Cost a bit ey Chris, but well worth it.

oh shucks im so embarassed, but i was kinda fishin for a compliment  thanks for the good words Anton.

How about recovering seats in LS style red ribbed cloth, at the trimmers he had excesses of cloth so similar you couldn't tell it wasn't original. (it was commodore or something)

compared withg what i paid for the cloth for Elmo
i think it was next to nothing cos i got my seats
done through him. when compared withthe
seats in Lizzie (aka LS) it was virtually the same.
happy to get it for you if needed.... i still like the
idea of pooh brown with light shade cloth
(like mine but whiter - i can show you if you want) :)

Chris, sadly I have ditched the idea of a club plate car. It was just cramping my style. So the trim will not be from the 70's....it will be a tad more modern than that.

Looks like my father in law might be buying Kev's 850 shell. We will restore that together....move over Dorothy, there will be a new 850 in town....

so elmo's goimg to be the only dag with 70's
fashion now Anton, how sad

Just jokes, btw - elmo is never going to be
a club car, i want to drive it too much :) :D
(the club car may be a one owner delux
that i have stumbled across that has been
in a garge for the past 20 years  )

so why not go leather? go all out and have
a bit of fun on it. :P then again how much is
leather a meter??

No seriously, we saw an 850 decked out with light tan leather and it was AWESOME. She is stuck on that idea, but I don't know who will pay for it. :? Oh hang on...yes I do.... 8)

on the subject of making your own door trim. the immitation stitching is RF welded from what i can tell (am i right). it wouldnt be too hard to make a jig with the original pattern of stitching on it, and get an RF welding company to do the weld. (shouldnt cost too much if you made your own jig. We have an RF welder at work that has a small stich head and works very similar to a sewing machine. not sure how tight you can get turns, but if it can handle it , it would be pretty quick to do a door.
How have people done this b4?

i got mine done by a pro that only welds door cards
you have to have the stencil for the particular
door card ( i was lucky he had a clubman one) i
think it would be hard to do it with anything else
i think his machine is weired, it put electricity through
a metal poll and through the stencil to melt (aka weld)
the vinyl to the board. no stitching involved.....

yep thats the RF weld... it passes radio frequency through the vynal. its the same process as used for making padded clipboards and ringbinders. brass strips with the stitch pattern on the edge are available, just a matter of mounting it onto a non flexable, non conductive slab. If you want to get a realy different look check with a stationary maker, they will probably have a much bigger range of paterned vynals than an upholsterer. Ther are some very realistic leather looking vynals available now. Not that Id know why, but if you realy wanted to you could even get a white vynal and get it full 3 colour printed, ie photo image on the panels. Just have to make sure the inks dont have any metal content or it will arch out and burn the vynal.
