My speedo stopped working on the way home last night. One minute it was working fine, next minute it was sitting on 0 mph.

What are the likely causes?

some bastard on the USS Enterprise thought it'd be a funny trick to play on you if he beamed it up - I bet you'll find the whole cable missing

f*ck I'm bored

Yeah man, check the cable. Have fun undoing the other end of the cable from gearbox! If it hasnt been undone for a while and was tightend up originally it wil make things interesting! Very awkward.

Much easier to put the car on a hoist and undo bottom end from below.
Watch you don't cross-thread the nut when you do it up... :x

Yep a hoist would make life a lot easier, when I put my engine in I must have done that speedo nut up fairly tight while I had the engine on the crane. I must have believed that cause it was brand new I would never need to replace it. Yes well I was wrong and I wish I didnt do that nut up so tight!!!!! Its a mungral of spot to get to.

Maybe if I had woossy girl arms it might make things a bit easier.
