You need to be a qualified engineer (dunno what sort of) authorised by the RTA to do this crap. And I'm not...

Well I'm getting my 10" ones engineered shortly. The engineer who did 13secmini's car didn't have a problem with them, back when Brad had them. So, I'll ask him again, get it in writing this time...

I think it depends on the engineer - they're like VicRoads staff - each one has a different opinion... :(

From a legal point of view, information posted on the web, is in fact still the sole ownership of the person posting it. Don't want to be a stick in the mud, but anything you say or post on hear can and will be used in court as evidence. Sounds harsh i know but it is the way things are. It may be worth keeping this in mind when posting information. I would even go as far as to say that the honda threat should actually be deleted so that it can't be used in court. Up to the admin gys really.

Cheers

Aaron

Hey Aaron, just because there are words next to my name here, doesn't mean I have typed it. Surely it can't be used in a court of law....unless there is absolute proof.

i think i have a way of killing two birds with one stone...

on having read some of the terms of use of MSN messenger, i found out that microsoft inherits the copyrights to anything transmitted via MSN messenger.

so if we all get messenger and send it to each other, they it'll be microsoft that that owns it and it'll be their problem ;)

I understand Anton that it seems hard to pin something on someone that posts stuff on chat sites, but just have a look at how they caught all the kiddie fiddlers. As i said, i am not trying to rock the boat and people can do and say what they want, but, i think it is reasonable thing to make sure people know that they are responsible for what they say.

qualifications required are mechanical engineering degree, at least 10 years expereince in the automotive industry, be able to pay the licence fee to the RTA, no idea how much but i reckon they probably charge around the $10k mark per year, plus be able to pay your own liability insurance...shudder  .

Most of the signatories listed by the RTA are used to dealing with transport industry work. All of the pantecs, coachwork for buses, tray top tow trucks, etc all have to be engineer approved because the basic cab and chassis is what the manufacturer supplies and the new owner then adds the required load area.

The ones who deal with car modifications are mostly enthusiasts themselves because quite frankly doing trucks is better business, but they have a duty of care under the law to ensure that anything they sign of on is actually safe.

Anton, you would not believe the technology available to trace internet traffic to you. The way the law stands at the moment, i don't think you could induce reasonable doubt that the geeks were not showing the very electrons that transmitted your opinions to the world

I was toying with the idea of a 1275 in JAM, since it wont be club plated...

I am now thinking about using the original 998 block, and putting an 1098 crank in it, head work, cam etc.... 8)

Since I will have the braking capacity, why not have the grunt
