Hey All

As many of you would know, I'm trying to organise a dyno day at Minis Down Under.
I have pretty much covered most bases, just have one more thing to iron out.

We can get shelter (gazebo), and we have the man with the dyno lined up, just need a way to unload it off his trailer. His workshop is in a block of factory units, and he can load it up using a neighbour's forklift, but unloading it at panthers is a bit of an issue. They don't have any lifting equipment (that they're willing to let us borrow anyway).

What I'm after is if anyone has a truck (or knows someone friendly who does) with a Hiab crane or similar that we could use to lift the dyno into it's position. If we can get that sorted, then I think we're in business.

Thanks Peoples.

I second that motion... just get heaps of guys to help...

You can get a trusk with crane from Kennards for $360 but need a license... maybe people chipping in is another option if we hav a driver.

Peter.

PS: OR!!! Why dont we leave it on the truck and drive the minis onto it HAHAA! Sorry, no laughing matter... we want the dyno!

PPS: There MUST be someone with a crane! Cmon!

I've spoken to Kennards. The price you quoted is right, but I'm waiting on a call back from the manager to see if they can do any better. I can drive it as I have the licence.

Another bit of good news is that if we take enough deposits, we can get the dyno there on Saturday arvo as well, that way anyone who will have their car in the inside display and wouldn't have been able to move it out on the Sunday can have a go.

I'll probably be paying for the gazebo and anything else (ie truck hire) out of my own pocket, and hoping to re-coup the costs in the entry fees. If we do need to hire a truck, it may take the entry fee to $60. Is that OK with everyone??

As soon as I have the final details ironed out, I'll be posting on here for entries/taking deposits.

Thanks Guys - glad to see there's some interest, and some people as keen to get it off the ground as me.

Oh yeah, I might have to camp overnight in the marquee to make sure nobody steals/vandalises the Dyno!! If we can get it Saturday that is.

I'm actually hoping I can do it for the original $50 - the extra will only come in as a last resort if we need to spend $360 hiring a truck - but there's a couple of possibilities - Kennards may come to the party with a discount or some sort of sponsorship, or one of my neighbours who works for Patricks may be able to do a dodgy and get us a truck. The only issue then is the overnight security. If we get the gazebo with the sides, I might camp in it, or if not I guess I can sleep in the Commodore!!

You want a massive 7 year old Boxer to guard it? :)
On second thoughts, maybe not such a good idea. Tyson would eat most of it... did I mention he ripped the downpipes off the house... like completely off!

Peter.

People lifting it not an option - weighs 800 kg and is valued upwards of $60k.

I'm sure as hell not taking that kind of responsibility, and the owner rightly wouldn't let us anyway.

Why do we have to use this guy? Aren't there people that do location dyno's IE they bring it, set is up, Run it and then take it away. To me this guy sounds like he's a little half baked if he wants you to orgainse transportation. I say find another operator that is more professional.

Cheers
Aaron
