Hi everyone,
im hoping someone on here can help me. Ive supercharged the mini with 92's kit and alls good, but i want to move the position of my carby so i have easier access to the mix screw. Heres a bad picture of my engine bay and what id like to achieve, Basically i want the carby to be out kinda over the clutch area but doesnt have to be that far.


So after some thinking ive decided that i might just extend the the inlet manifold with some piping. To do this ill need 2 adaptors like these made up with the correct bolt pattern size for a HIF6 carby

Ive been into various auto part stores only to be met with dumb looks and shown the same air filter adaptor that doesnt fit the small stud pattern of the mini su carby.
Id attempt to make them myself but 1. i have no welding experience and 2. i have no access to a welder, both of these combined make things a little hard. So what im after is suggestions to where i could buy some OR anyone willing to make them up for me for a fee:):)

the shop ALDI had welders for 99AUD the other day.
they won't be good but they are cheeeeaaaap

Got access to a lathe?
Turn one up from aluminium.
No welding then.

nah no lathe, i have access to screw drivers, computers and paint

Go to an exhaust shop, they have helped me out heaps over the years making up that sort of thing

What is the external size of the adaptor and measure the position of the stud pattern... I may be able to help.

Be careful, I thought the carb pipe to a blower was a tunable length, ie it can have dramtic impact on behaviour. It would make a grater volume that the blower (sucker) would have to evacuate before allowing the carb to respond. Which would result in a column of compressed unfuelled mixture everytime you put your foot down. When you backed of you would still have a momentary column of compressed fueled mixture.

I thought you always wanted the shortest possible inlet length between the carb and the blower to avoid lean on inital throttle and overrich on trailing throttle.

Why not think about a clampable/lockable flexible drive extension for the mixture screw rather than risk compromising the inlet tract

go see a engineer thats what i did when i wanted to get my mags redrilled everyone else looked at me and said can't be done went and seen a engineer yep come back in week they'll be done they did a good job too thats there job make things that know one else can.
