I'm interested in installing an MGB speedo and tacho etc to my car. Tacho and other guages are fine but what about these non-mini speedos? Are they ratios the same as the mini? If not does any know the ratios of MGB, Jaguar etc. ? I'm rather interested in the MGB size one as I think the Jag ones are too big and Mini ones just aren't nice enough. Any help would be appreciated.

normaly Smith speedos have a small number printed on the face of the dial which shows the turns per mile. this should be the same. or you can use it to calculate the right pinion-spindle ratio at the speedo drive

All Oz Minis got the original Mk1 speedo drive gears (whatever ratio they were) in the gearbox.
Go see a place that repairs instruments, they can knock you up a cable drive box that goes onto the back of the speedo, to correct it.
Speedy Cables in UK do the same thing for people over there.

Previous owner of my mini put Triumph Dolomite Sprint gauges in it.
They are Smiths and look the part.

The speedo is spot on for whatever diff ratio the thing has (Metro 1275 motor & box. 165 60 12 tyres). For pics check out chasg's posts and his photobucket.
