Anybody else found this ?

There are several types of models of Classic Mini's Some of the following are:
Round Nose Mini
Clubbie Mini (Clubman)
Mini Pickup (ute style & rare)
Mini Cabrio (rare)
Mini Van (cheap)
Mini Moke (for the eccentric)

Well , I thought all mini owners were eccentric not just moke owners ???? Ausmini get's a mention in the list at the bottom too for resources , is the author amongst us here ?

"Prone to rust" is a Nth American and Great Britain problem more so than here because they put salt on the roads in the winter (when it snows) No big deal here

Same here. When you see a rust bubble on a Mini you can prep it and repaint it. But on an 80s Toyota the paint holds the metal together. Scrape the paint off the bubble then stare at the road...
Sell it if you see a big one.
ps. yes I the misfortune to have one, a POS 1980 Celica Liftback automatic...
I could put fist thru firewall below windscreen when bought, but fibreglass and old Toyotas bond well together. 8)

heheh, guily of owning a 78 ke30, that 10MM of bog all the way arround the bottom, 83starlet with 4in of a-pillar carfully formed in bog and newspaper(previous owner), then the latest starlet only had a coupla bubbles...at least all the bolts are copper greased :D
still, strong lil cars, the corolla was still running on 2 with a broken piston and a snapped rod

....there goes the topic again!

I definately object to the rust part regardless of what environment the car is used in. My mini from 1965 has almost no rust, while the lada niva that I just bought is a 1991 model and had holes in it because it had that much rust. Good thing is though that it only cost $750 and is awesome for 4wding :D

I don't know, I can't find it anymore. I think it might have been changed or something, because I am certain that it said somewhere that minis are prone to rust :?

EDIT: Yep, it says down the bottom that the article was last updated today

iw as under the impression that ladas came with rust from the factory, thats what ive been told by everyone thats owned one.

and as for toyotas and rust, my ae82 had a rust patch where the rust was holding the paint on, pity it came off when i used high pressure spray a few weeks before i started selling it
